Manchester United enter race alongside AC Milan to sign Bundesliga star

Manchester United could be getting ready to make moves in the upcoming January transfer window if the latest reports are to be believed.

Erik ten Hag brought as many as seven new players to the club last summer but the Dutchman will still be looking to improve his squad further as there are still several positions in need of strengthening.

United are also lacking in depth in several areas, with striker being one of them. Rasmus Hojlund immediately became Ten Hag’s first-choice option, with Anthony Martial dropping to the bench.

Martial was a rare fixture in the lineup even prior to Hojlund’s arrival and his fitness record means he is often not available for selection anyways.

That has already left Ten Hag stranded once this season and it will, undeniably, happen again which could result in the club looking for another number nine in the market.

As per the latest reports, United have already begun making moves for next month’s transfer window as contacts have been made over Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy.

That’s according to TuttoMercatoWeb, via Sport Witness, who say that Guirassy is being lined up by a number of clubs, with AC Milan among the competitors for his signature.

It’s claimed that Guirassy has been earmarked as a viable option to take the burden off Hojlund, who is already a central cog in Ten Hag’s machinery.

Furthermore, it’s claimed that Guirassy has a €17.5m release clause in his contract with the Bundesliga club, making him an affordable option.

Guirassy has scored 16 goals in the Bundesliga so far this season, with only Harry Kane bettering that tally with 18.
