Galatasaray manager gives verdict on 3-3 draw vs Manchester United

Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk felt the Turkish giants could have won last night’s game with Manchester United, which ended 3-3.

The Reds travelled to Istanbul needing a win to put qualification for the knockout phase in their own hands, but we bottled it on the pitch by throwing away the lead twice.

In the end, Galatasaray fought back from 3-1 down to earn themselves a point and boost their chances of reaching the last-16.

Speaking to reporters at full-time, Buruk said (via Manchester Evening News): “We had 58 per cent of the ball in the match, and we got into a lot of scoring positions. We could have scored more. United are one of the most established and successful teams in the Premier League and we have scored six goals in two matches against them. We could have won, but a draw is not a bad result for us. We leave here happy.”

United’s final game in Group A is against leaders Bayern Munich. We need to win and hope Galatasaray draw with FC Copenhagen. It’s unlikely that everything will go our way, but we’ll keep the faith because United never do things the easy way.

Galatasaray have to travel to Copenhagen in the next game, while United host Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich after losing the reverse fixture in Bavaria.
