Manchester United’s Champions League clash with Galatasaray is in danger of being postponed due to heavy rain in Istanbul.
Storms in the Turkish city have put the game under threat and the rain isn’t expected to stop falling until tomorrow.
However, it didn’t stop the UEFA Youth League (u19s) match between the two clubs taking place this afternoon, as the young Turkish side came out on top to win 1-0.
ESPN journalist Rob Dawson has uploaded a picture showing the state of the pitch at Rams Park and it didn’t look good as the officials carried out an inspection.
Current state of the pitch at Rams Park. Doesn’t look good at all. It’s been raining heavily in Istanbul all day and it doesn’t look like stopping. Lots of officials out having a look. pic.twitter.com/RILQGW5wUu

Dawson provided an update 10 minutes later stressing that, as things stand, UEFA are happy for the game to go ahead. He adds that officials weren’t impressed with how the ball rolled on the surface.
UEFA saying, as things stand, the game is going ahead. But there are big patches of standing water in front of the benches and the officials who have been out rolling a ball on the surface didn’t seem too impressed.
