Galatasaray will be without one of their star defenders for tonight’s crunch Champions League group stage clash against Manchester United.
The Reds have a number of injuries of their own, but Erik ten Hag will take any boost he can get as United look to keep their Champions League hopes alive before the knockout phase.
Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has confirmed that former Tottenham centre-back Davinson Sanchez will miss this evening’s game at Rams Park through injury.
“Sanchez does not have the condition to play with injection therapy,” Buruk said, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News. “We expect him to return to the team in two or three weeks.”
The Colombian, who left Spurs in September, was forced off in Saturday’s 4-0 win over Alanyaspor. Sanchez lasted 79 minutes before being replaced by Denmark international Victor Nelsson.
Sanchez, 27, started for Galatasaray earlier this season when they beat United 3-2 at Old Trafford – claiming two assists on a night we’d rather forget. His presence will be missed in the heart of their defence.
Meanwhile, Buruk needs to make a late call on fellow defender Abdulkerim Bardakci. He missed the game at the weekend.
The Galatasaray manager added: “We will try Abdulkerim in training. If it is positive, he will be on the field.”
