Erik ten Hag not worried about poor away record ahead of crucial trip to Galatasaray

Manchester United face three crucial away games in a little more than six days. The results could define our season.

On Wednesday night it’s about staying in the Champions League but United need to beat Galatasaray in Istanbul.

The game is vital to our hopes of progressing from Group A, with the Turkish giants currently a point ahead of us in the standings.

Erik ten Hag’s side will face a hostile atmosphere in Turkey, although the manager is not concerned about United’s poor away record.

“Last year we couldn’t win away from home, now we can’t win at home,” Ten Hag told reporters at his press conference, as per the Manchester Evening News. “We know how to deal with it.”

The fans travelling to Istanbul will certainly hope so and we hope those of you making the trip stay safe.

Ten Hag was also asked about the antagonistic atmosphere at the Rams Global Stadium. In response, he urged his players to take control of the occasion.

“You have to stay calm in your head, don’t get too emotional. You have to control it. Don’t give them anything, don’t give the referee a moment they can take. We know how to deal with it. We have to make it our game.”

When asked about Galatasaray’s infamous ‘welcome to hell’ banner, he added: “We have to make it our game. Manchester United have a great history but you can’t take anything from it. We have to make our own future.”
