Manchester United set to recall starlet from League One loan spell

Charlie McNeill’s loan spell at League One outfit Stevenage has not quite gone to plan.

The 20-year-old striker left Manchester United on a temporary loan in September, but he’s just made three appearances since then.

There’s no point letting McNeill stay at Stevenage if he’s not getting minutes on the pitch to develop his game. Otherwise, it will go down as a wasted year and none of our youngsters want that for their careers.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United are planning to recall McNeill in the January transfer window due to his lack of game time.

United have a recall break clause in McNeill’s loan deal that can be activated after six months. This gives the club a chance to assess whether it’s best for the youngster or stay on loan or return.

If McNeill does return it will raise questions about what United plan to do with him for the remainder of the season.

They may chance another loan move for the second half of the season.
