Video: Marcus Rashford fires home United’s second vs Everton with neatly-converted penalty

Marcus Rashford has doubled Manchester United’s lead from the spot at Goodison Park in the 56th minute.

Alejandro Garnacho opened the scoring in just the third minute with a scintillating, Wayne Rooney-esque overhead kick to shock the Everton faithful into silence.

United then had to sustain a flurry of Toffees attacks prior to half time, with Andre Onana and Kobbie Mainoo proving vital to keeping the Reds ahead.

Shortly after the interval, Erik ten Hag’s side were handed a golden opportunity to increase their lead after Anthony Martial was fouled in the area by former Reds captain Ashley Young. Initially deeming it simulation, the Frenchman was booked for a dive by the referee before VAR intervened and awarded the spot-kick. The yellow card was subsequently rescinded.

Bruno Fernandes handed Rashford the ball and the forward was able to convert it past his fellow England teammate with a superb finish.
