Mason Greenwood scored arguably the best goal of his career whilst playing for Getafe against Almeria on Saturday night.
Greenwood is back playing football following more than a year away from the game. He was suspended by United in January 2022 after being arrested on suspicion of attempted rape, assault, and coercive control.
However, those charges were dropped in February 2023 but United decided it would be best for Greenwood to continue his career elsewhere – hence why he joined Getafe on loan in a bid to rejuvenate his career.
The 22-year-old, who has an uncertain future once his loan spell ends, cut inside one defender and unleashed a strike into the top corner from the edge of the box to make it 1-1 at Estadio Coliseum.

It was the loanee’s fourth goal of the season for Getafe and he was facing another United academy graduate with Largie Ramazani scoring the opener for Almeria.
Next up for Greenwood and Getafe is Las Palmas on Friday night. As for his future in the game, I don’t think anybody knows.
Greenwood’s contract at United doesn’t expire until 2025.
Ideally, Greenwood will keep scoring goals in Spain and someone will buy him from us in the summer.
