Andrei Kanchelskis urges Manchester United to sign 23 y/o Kazakhstan international

Former Manchester United winger Andrei Kanchelskis would like to see Zenit St Petersburg defender Nuraly Alip move to Old Trafford in 2024.

Alip would become the first Kazakhstani player in the Premier League if he was to make the move, but his agency has already played down speculation about interest from United.

A representative of Player Career Management said: “Nobody contacted the agency – the rest is on the conscience of the authors. The player belongs to Zenit and is currently focused on helping the club win the championship.”

However, it is understood that United had sent scouts to keep an eye on the 23-year-old during Monday’s 2024 qualifier between Kazakhstan and Slovenia.

Kanchelskis has kept a close eye on Alip during his time with Russian champions Zenit St Petersburg.

“If this move happens, I will be very happy,” Kanchelskis told Sport Express, as cited by United In Focus. “This will be a big step forward for the football player. This is progress. A new football world.

“It will be a big plus for the entire Kazakh football if Alip plays for Manchester United. This will be an important moment both for him and for the Kazakh children who love to play football.

“Let’s hope he can play there. But it depends only on him. We will support and root for him.”

A move to United would see Alip fly the flag for Kazakhstani footballers across the world. It also helps that he’s a left-sided centre-back and we’ve only really got one of them in Lisandro Martinez.

Really, though, Alip is one of many centre-backs linked with a move to United in 2024. We won’t be signing all of them!
