Nike reaffirm stance on Mason Greenwood after shamed striker shows trainer collection

Nike has reaffirmed its stance on Mason Greenwood by stressing that there is no longer a sponsorship deal in place with the footballer.

Greenwood took to social media on Tuesday to share photos of his remarkable collection of Nike footwear.

Since he was previously recognised as a Nike athlete, Greenwood’s collection is better than most, but it sounds like the clothing manufacturer weren’t happy about his social media activity.

Greenwood has even continued to wear Nike boots this season following his loan to La Liga outfit Getafe.

Nike have yet again distanced themselves from the disgraced footballer.

The Sun ran quotes from a Nike spokesman who stresses there is no commercial relationship at all between the sportswear company and Greenwood: “Mason Greenwood is no longer a Nike athlete.”

Nike cut ties with Greenwood in February 2022 after Manchester United suspended the player after he was arrested by Greater Manchester Police. The youngster was initially charged with attempted rape, assault and coercive and controlling behaviour.

However, the case put against Greenwood was dropped by prosecutors in February but United decided not to take him back due to the backlash it would have prompted from fans.

That’s when Greenwood was sent to Getafe on a season-long loan.
