Fabrizio Romano has weighed in on Donny van de Beek’s uncertain future at Manchester United in Thursday’s edition of his Daily Briefing.
Yesterday, we covered Galatasaray’s reported interest in the outcast midfielder amid speculation in Turkey that the two clubs would discuss a potential deal ahead of their crunch Champions League clash next Wednesday.
While Romano kept tight-lipped on Van de Beek’s possible destinations, he does expect the player to depart Old Trafford in January.
Erik ten Hag was seemingly adamant to oversee the Dutch international’s exit over the summer but ultimately, a deal failed to materialise.
Since then, he has been omitted almost entirely from United’s season, making just two brief cameos thus far; he featured for 19 minutes against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup and for two minutes against them in the Premier League. Van de Beek was also excluded from United’s Champions League squad list.
Romano on Van de Beek
Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside, Romano explained: “There’s no concrete update yet on Donny van de Beek, but he is one player who is very much expected to leave in January.
“United and Van de Beek will find a solution for sure, though there is no clarity yet about a specific club, it’s still too early.”
