Manchester United goalkeeper Mary Earps nominated for Best Women’s Player of 2023

Manchester United star Mary Earps has been named among a 20-player shortlist for this year’s Dubai Globe Soccer Awards Best Women’s Player of the Year.

The awards are set to take place alongside the 18th Dubai International Sports Conference on January 19.

This year’s Ballon d’Or and World Cup winner Aitana Bonmati is the favourite to win the award in Dubai, however, it’s still a fantastic achievement for Earps to be recognised as one of the best keepers in the world.

Barcelona and Spain star Alexia Putellas was crowned the Best Women’s Player of 2022, but the feeling this year is that Bonmati will collect the award after being named Uefa’s player of the year in August after helping Barca to a second Champions League title.

There has been uncertainty surrounding Earps’ contract at United and fans will hope she doesn’t become the latest player to join a WSL rival in the summer.

Earps was linked with a move to Arsenal before the start of the season but she has yet to commit her long-term future to the club.

Surely that’s a priority for manager Marc Skinner…
