Manchester United women lose on derby day

Manchester United Women lost 3-1 against rivals Man City in Sunday’s Manchester derby at Old Trafford.

It was the first derby between the two teams to be held at the Theatre of Dreams and sadly it wasn’t one to remember for United as City won on the day.

Over 43,000 people packed into M16 to watch the match as City recovered from a goal down to scoop all three points as well as the local bragging rights.

After Katie Zelem had given United the lead from the penalty spot, City fought back and goals from Jill Roord, Lauren Hemp and Bunny Shaw meant they sealed all three points.

It wasn’t to be for Marc Skinner’s side as they suffered their first defeat in the current WSL campaign.
