Victor Lindelof expects Manchester United contract extension

Manchester United centre-back Victor Lindelof appears to have revealed what the club intend to do regarding his future when speaking to media while away on international duty with Sweden.

The 26-year-old has come thrown into the fore this season amid injuries to Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez. Sweden were on the receiving end of a shocking defeat to Azerbaijan last night and the United defender was singled out for a dismal mistake for the first goal in a 3-0 loss.

However, Lindelof has racked up 15 appearances across all competitions and has even played at left-back – but not to any positive effect.

Lindelof is one of the players who will see his contract expire in the summer unless the club offer extensions. Speaking to Swedish outlet Fotbollskananlen, Lindelof said: “There I get to see what happens. There is an option and it [contract extensions] will most likely be activated.”

That said, United are said to be chasing a new centre-back in 2024, as per Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking to CaughtOffside in October, the trusted guru said: “As I’ve previously reported, we know Man Utd want a top centre-back for 2024, so we’re going to see a lot of names linked.”
