Colorado Rapids hire former Manchester United coach as manager

Former Manchester United coach Chris Armas has been appointed head coach at Colorado Rapids.

That’s according to The Athletic and the news comes after ‘The Rapids’ ended the season at the bottom of the Western Conference, which led them to parting ways with Robin Fraser back in September.

Armas was chosen after a brief stint in the MLS with Toronto FC in 2021, however, he was sacked after just 11 league games.

The American coach then served as an assistant coach at Manchester United under Ralf Rangnick before moving on to Leeds where he worked under Jesse Marsch in 2023.

On a more positive note, Armas will be remembered for winning the Supporters’ Shield with New York Red Bulls in 2018.

Armas won’t have the best reputation at Old Trafford because he worked at the club during a dire spell for the team. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked and the club made the worst decision possible to appoint Rangnick as interim manager.

Colorado Rapids will be hoping for better results than what he delivered at Toronto FC.
