Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof are battling for a place in the starting line-up.
Manchester United host Luton Town on Saturday, but the Reds will be without Jonny Evans after the Northern Ireland international sustained an injury in the midweek defeat to FC Copenhagen.
Evans was signed in the summer as a free agent to help provide cover at the back. However, the United academy graduate has grown in importance in recent weeks, starting the last five league games.
That means Ten Hag has a decision to make at the back. Does he bring Raphael Varane or Victor Lindelof back into the starting line-up to partner Harry Maguire?
While Varane replaced Evans in Copenhagen, the Frenchman performed poorly as he kept giving away possession at the back. Lindelof was ruled out due to illness but he hasn’t performed well this season either.
Andre Onana will start between the sticks behind a back four consisting of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Maguire and Sergio Reguilon. I think it’s time for the Spaniard to start at left-back again because Diogo Dalot has been shocking in recent weeks, with far too many lapses in concentration.
I haven’t been impressed by Sofyan Amrabat and Scott McTominay is in decent form (considering how poor others have been). Christian Eriksen will provide that creative spark from deep positions (hopefully) and it will be Bruno Fernandes’ job to join the dots in the final third.
The front three consists of Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho.
