Manchester United line-up vs Copenhagen: Rashford and Garnacho start

Manchester United face FC Copenhagen in the Champions League in a must-win tie if we are to have any chance of qualifying for the knockout rounds.

The bid to qualify will be in our hands if we win tonight – but United could also do with Bayern Munich beating Galatasaray. It’s not like Erik ten Hag’s side will be catching the Germans in their quest to top Group A because we would all take second place after a slow start to our European campaign.

United bounced back after successive 3-0 defeats against Man City and Newcastle to take three points from their trip to Fulham at the weekend. Bruno Fernandes scored a stoppage-time winner at Craven Cottage and we’re after a similar result tonight.

The win at the weekend will count for little if the Reds don’t manage to win tonight and Ten Hag has named a team he believes can get the job done in Copenhagen.

Andre Onana starts between the sticks in front of a back four consisting of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Jonny Evans, Harry Maguire and Diogo Dalot.

It is the same midfield that lined up against Fulham, with Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay sitting deep while Bruno Fernandes plays further forward.

The front three will include Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho.

Manchester United XI vs Copenhagen: Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Evans, Dalot; Eriksen, McTominay, Fernandes; Rashford, Hojlund, Garnacho.

One worrying stat we want to improve on is how United have only won one of their last seven away games in the Champions League (D2 L4), with that one victory coming at Villarreal in November 2021 under Michael Carrick as caretaker manager.
