Manchester United got off to a perfect start against FC Copenhagen after taking an early lead, but then came a blow as Jonny Evans hobbled off the pitch with an injury.
The Northern Ireland international went down and made signal to the bench with 13 minutes on the clock.
Manchester United opened the scoring through Rasmus Hojlund, who has four goals in as many Champions League games for the club, but Erik ten Hag was forced into a substation with Evans coming off to be replaced by Raphael Varane.
It’s not a drastic change tactically and people are asking questions about why Varane has been overlooked since the Manchester derby.
Evans has played well this season and his injury will come as a blow because Varane’s injury record won’t fill Ten Hag with confidence. Thankfully after tonight, we only have to play Luton Town before the international break.
Fingers crossed Evans’ injury isn’t serious. We won’t know more until the reporters ask Ten Hag after the match.
Harry Maguire is currently our main defender which is crazy when you think about how far he was down the pecking order last season.
