Manchester United Supporters’ Trust organised a Q&A meeting with Sam Kelleher, Director of Supporter Services, as well as a panel of supporters.

MUST members were invited to submit questions and they asked a panel of independent supporters to participate with questions of their own. The independent panel is made up off well known Reds who aren’t members of MUST.

Over 180 questions were submitted and they didn’t have the time to get through everything.

Topics include: MUSC Branch questions, cup ticket payments, Galatasaray controversy, touting, passing on season tickets, premium priced tickets, domestic away tickets, ticketing website issue, season ticket suspensions/appeals, Euro aways, returning tickets, and loss of trust in ticket office.

Galatasaray fiasco

In early October, United released a statement detailing the findings from an investigation into how more than 1,000 tickets fell into the hands of Galatasaray supporters during their Champions League game at Old Trafford.

A large group of Galatasaray fans were seated in the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand with more in the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand and the upper tier of the Scoreboard End.

United found that the club did not sell tickets to anyone with a Turkish address, while all general admission passes were only sold to official members.

The statement: “Clearly, having away fans in our home areas is not something we want at Old Trafford, and we understand and acknowledge that some fans felt unsafe and concerned about potential trouble. The safety of our fans and our staff is always our number one priority.

“We pride ourselves on having an incredibly safe stadium to visit. While, thankfully, there were no reported injuries to our fans, we want to make sure that we address the issue, and have been working hard over the last 48 hours to review our CCTV, so we can understand how the situation arose and stop it from happening again.

“We have worked closely with MUST [Manchester United Supporters Trust] and our fan bodies to understand views and experiences of fans and to discuss how best to adapt our policies going forward. I thank them for their support.”
