Former Wolves manager waiting on Manchester United call

Julen Lopetegui would welcome a call from Manchester United should the club decide to sack Erik ten Hag in the foreseeable future.

According to Spanish publication Sport, Ten Hag’s job at Old Trafford ‘hangs by a thread’ after a slow start to the season. The positives from last season have been forgotten by some and the media appear to be out to get the Dutchman.

I guess it gives them something to write…

Anyhow, Julen Lopetegui has been named among the potential candidates.

The report suggests the former Wolves manager ‘awaits the call’ from United and is ‘waiting to receive offers’ from the Premier League.

Lopetegui has been out of work since leaving Wolves in the summer.

Backing Ten Hag

While the media will continue to speculate over Ten Hag’s future, I am still desperate for him to succeed. Even if it means we’ve got to get rid of players who are causing problems.

United got back to winning ways on Saturday afternoon after a stoppage time goal from Bruno Fernandes against Fulham at Craven Cottage. That will do the Dutchman good and he’ll be hoping for a similar result when his team travel to Copenhagen during the week.

Ten Hag knows the only way he can turn things around is by winning football matches. It’s just a shame we’ve had to watch such dire football this season.
