(Video) ‘We’ve got to put things right’ – Maguire keen for United to bounce back after derby loss

Harry Maguire has sent a rallying message ahead of kick-off in Manchester United’s Carabao Cup fourth-round tie this evening.

The Red Devils are undergoing their final preparations at Old Trafford as they look to get one over on a heavily-rotated Newcastle United side.

Erik ten Hag has made seven changes himself from Sunday’s derby defeat, with Alejandro Garnacho, Anthony Martial and Hannibal Mejbri among the Reds given the nod tonight.

A win would see United book their place in the quarter-finals of the cup, which they are currently the holders of. Picking up some form of silverware this term would be ideal for supporters given the side’s lacklustre start to the campaign.

Speaking to Sky Sports prior to the 8.15pm kick-off, Maguire said: “Sunday was really disappointing; bad performance, bad result. There’s no better chance to put it right than in front of our fans again at Old Trafford.

“Yeah of course [we think we can progress]. Every round that we play in is a chance to progress. Obviously, [we were] successful in this cup last season so we’re here to defend it again. We’re looking forward to it.”

In regards to the mood at Carrington since the last game, he added: “You lose a derby, it’s disappointing. The lads aren’t happy. There’s areas that we know we need to improve on but like I’ve said, we’ve moved on, we’ve got to put things right tonight.”
