Rasmus Hojlund has quickly taken to Instagram to apologise to supporters after Manchester United were knocked out of the Carabao Cup.
The Red Devils sustained a 3-0 loss to Newcastle United at Old Trafford, marking an eighth loss in their first 15 games for the first time in 61 years.
It was also a second consecutive defeat by a three-goal margin following the Manchester derby humiliation last Sunday; the last time such a feat happened was also in 1962.
Hojlund, realistically, is not one of the players that fans would be demanding an apology from. Whilst he didn’t score or overly change the game, he didn’t even start from the get-go and still put in more of an effort than most.
The 20-year-old shared a picture of himself shortly after the full-time whistle, simply captioned: “Sorry for today everyone”.
