Manchester United level unwanted 61-year record after woeful Newcastle loss

Manchester United have lost eight of their first 15 games in all competitions for the first time since the 1962/63 season.

Tonight’s defeat to Newcastle United also marked a second consecutive home loss by a three-goal margin for the first time since October 1962, as per MUFC Data.

The Red Devils have crashed out of the Carabao Cup in humiliating fashion, being outclassed, outplayed and outsmarted by the Magpies at Old Trafford. United were holders of the trophy heading into the campaign but judging by the show they put on tonight, they’ll be lucky to be seeing any form of silverware this term.

Pressure mounts in the dugout

Questions will of course be raised as to where on earth Erik ten Hag turns next. He looked to counteract the Manchester derby defeat by making seven changes to the starting 11 tonight but oversaw another soulless showing by those on the pitch, with the substitutions having absolutely no impact on the game.
