Manchester United’s contract talks with Aaron Wan-Bissaka have been put on ice, as per the Daily Mail.
It has been reported in recent months that the club were planning to grant Wan-Bissaka a new and extended deal, with his current one set to expire at the end of the season.
However, such conversations have now ‘gone quiet’. The board will instead trigger the right-back’s 12-month extension, which secures his future at Old Trafford until June 2025, and reevaluate the situation again after Christmas.
Wan-Bissaka’s spell on the sidelines
Wan-Bissaka has not featured on the pitch since the Reds lost 3-1 to Brighton and Hove Albion at home on September 16. He made just a five-minute cameo but sustained a hamstring injury, which saw him dealt a six-week layoff.
The 25-year-old has been ahead of schedule in his recovery though, and was back in full training last week in hopes of making his return in the coming games.
Erik ten Hag’s squad takes on Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup fourth round tomorrow before travelling to Craven Cottage on Saturday to face Fulham in the Premier League’s early kick-off.
