Erik ten Hag has again reiterated his belief in Marcus Rashford amid a lacklustre start to the season for the forward.
Rashford is on the back of his most prolific campaign to date, having netted 30 goals in all competitions for the first time in his career. Over the summer, he was rewarded with a new and improved contract, keeping him tied to Manchester United until 2028.
Things have looked considerably different this term, though, with the Englishman producing just one goal in all competitions thus far, despite being a permanent name on the teamsheet week in, week out.
With Rashford, it’s clear that his confidence drops more the longer the goal drought drags on. A contribution in the Manchester derby on Sunday would do wonders for him – especially in front of the Old Trafford faithful who’ll be bellowing his chant out from the get-go.
Ten Hag on Rashford
Ten Hag weighed in on the matter in his pre-match press conference this afternoon, saying (via Manchester Evening News): “Give him the trust and play him every game, most of the games he finishes every game, so I have a strong belief he will return to scoring a lot of goals.”
