McTominay partners Amrabat: Predicted Manchester United line-up to face Sheffield United

Our predicted Manchester United line-up to face Sheffield United this Saturday, October 21.

Erik ten Hag is still having to navigate numerous injury woes across his squad this week, with Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia and Amad Diallo all long-term absentees.

Kobbie Mainoo has been training with the squad but it remains to be seen whether he will be deemed fit enough to face the Blades, while Casemiro is confirmed to be out with a minor issue sustained on international duty.

On a more positive note, Raphael Varane, Sergio Reguilon and Sofyan Amrabat have all been cleared to play tomorrow. Both defenders missed the Brentford win prior to the break, while Amrabat was ruled out of both of Morocco’s fixtures with an unspecified problem.

Predicted United XI

Onana

Dalot, Varane, Lindelof, Reguilon

It’ll be a relief for Ten Hag to have a natural left-back back at his disposal, as well as Varane fully fit again.

McTominay, Amrabat

Reguilon’s return means that Amrabat can finally be deployed in his usual position in midfield, where he’s given a lot more freedom to roam and be creative.

Scott McTominay’s injury-time heroics may well have earnt him a spot in the starting 11, as he’s proven he can be the man to produce a moment of magic when United need it.

Antony, Fernandes (C), Rashford

Antony will likely take his usual role on the right flank rather than one of Mason Mount or Bruno Fernandes being thrown out there.

Fernandes and Marcus Rashford were in fine form for their nations over the past week so hopefully, they can recreate it in a red shirt.

Hojlund

Rasmus Hojlund netted his seventh goal in Euro 2024 qualifiying this week and is still seeking his debut Premier League goal. Realisticially, with the Blades’ form this season, the forward could make a real mark on the game and introduce himself to the top flight.
