Marcus Rashford ready to kick after scoring for England to secure Euro 2024 qualification

Marcus Rashford feels he is ready to kick on after impressing for England in a 3-1 win over Italy at Wembley on Tuesday night.

Thanks to a brace from Harry Kane and Marcus Rashford’s strike, the Italians fell short on the night.

Fellow United player Harry Maguire started the game in defence as the pair helped England book their place at Euro 2024, with two games to spare.

Rashford needed the boost after a poor start to the season. He hasn’t been able to replicate his goalscoring from last season, when he netted 30 times, but a goal for England could give him the confidence he needs to perform on Saturday when The Reds travel to Sheffield United.

Speaking to Channel 4 after the match, Rashford sounded like a player growing in confidence after being asked if he was showing his best form for England.

“I feel like I am ready to kick on,” Rashford said, as quoted by ManUtd.com. “It is about winning as many games as possible for me, whether you start or are on the bench.

“When it is your moment, you have to take it.

“We started the game well,” he added. “We were unlucky to concede the goal. A couple of times in the first half, they caught us on the overload.

“We kept cool heads and trying to play the football we had played in training, and it paid off.”

Rashford was arguably United’s best player last season and the fans need to get behind him. It’s counter productive when fans spend the majority of their time slating our own on social media, and I have seen a lot of that waffle aimed at Rashford recently. It’s not a good look.
