Manchester United to ramp up security at UCL clash after latest takeover development

Manchester United will ramp up their security staff at the team’s next Champions League clash following the latest takeover development.

The 11-month-long process of the Glazer family opening up to outside investment appears to be reaching its end – just like fans’ wits.

On Saturday, it was confirmed that Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani had withdrawn from the takeover race after his final, multi-billion bid was rejected.

This subsequently led to Sir Jim Ratcliffe taking pole position in acquiring a minority stake in the club, which he plans to build from and, over time, gain full ownership. His offer is yet to be accepted but the board will gather on Thursday to discuss the outcome of the Englishman’s proposal.

The breakthrough led to a divide in the fanbase and large parts of supporters were left furious over the fact that the Glazers will indeed be staying put for the foreseeable future.

United braced for fan protests

United fans have never shied away from making their voices heard against the owners and once went as far as getting a Premier League outing vs Liverpool postponed due to the scale of the protests outside and inside the stadium.

As per the Daily Mail, there will be increased security staff and police presence at United’s Champions League group-stage tie against Copenhagen next Tuesday, October 24.
