Manchester United U18s make it six wins from six games.
This is the XI that the manager fielded: Tom Myles (GK), Finley McAllister (C), Harry Amass, Louis Jackson, Reece Munro, Jacob Devaney, Shea Lacey, Ruben Curley, Victor Musa, Jayce Fitzgerald, Ashton Missin.
Subs: Ogunneye, Murdock (GK), Fletcher, Sharpe, Wheatley
During the first half, it was Derby County that were creating most of the chances. The young Reds were a bit shaky in defence. It was Tom Myles’ defending who kept the game level after two incredible saves. Afterwards, Missin plays a lovely ball to Curley whose effort ends wide. It did not take a lot for Derby to score and they did so with Wheeldon. Derby almost double their lead but the offside flag helps.
In the second half, United made changes that changed the course of the game. The youngsters were finally showing their force in attack. Ethan Wheatley was brought down and the referee pointed at the penalty spot. Wheatley also took it and made no mistake.
This team always found the perfect moment to score. They did not fail this time either. Finley McAllister curled it into the bottom corner after a brilliant Harry Amass assist.
Derby of course will not agree with the result, after that brilliant first half. Wheeldon had the best chance of the game in the 87th game.
However, a heroic Tom Myles save keeps United into advantage and a long ball set things for United’s third. Sharpe was left alone with the goalkeeper and he made no mistakes.
United score their third and they do it once again. Six wins from six in the U18 Premier League North.
