Manchester United will wear black armbands for today’s game against Brentford as a tribute to Lady Cathy Ferguson following her death at the age of 84.
The wife of legendary former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson passed away on Thursday, the Ferguson family confirmed on Friday.
In response to the sad news, United have lowered flags at Old Trafford to half-mast in a tribute to Lady Cathy, while the women’s first-team wore black armbands for their 2-2 draw against Arsenal last night.
Erik ten Hag’s side will also wear black armbands for their 3pm kick-off against Brentford in the Premier League.
As Fergie would point out many times down the years, he could never have been successful without Cathy by his side.
A beautiful soul who United fans owe so much too.
We would like to send our deepest condolences to Fergie and his family.
