Preview: Manchester United must get back on track against unbeaten Galatasaray

Manchester United return to European action on Tuesday night with a Champions League group-stage clash vs Galatasaray.

The Red Devils have overseen their worst start to a season in 34 years, having suffered five losses in their opening nine games (four in the Premier League), and it’s safe to say it’s far from an ideal situation.

Injuries have, of course, been a mitigating factor in the side’s form, but results must pick up now as players gradually return to the fold. Wins across October would boost morale significantly and could cast a positive light on Old Trafford.

This starts tomorrow, with Erik ten Hag’s squad currently undergoing their final preparations for the home tie. Having fallen to a 4-3 defeat at the Allianz Arena in their opening game, getting those first points on the board in Group A is crucial.

However, they certainly won’t come easy, and the Old Trafford faithful can expect a tightly contested outing when the Turkish side arrives in M16.

How the sides fare

Galatasaray are currently unbeaten in the Super Lig, with six wins and one draw to their name. They drew 2-2 to Copenhagen in their European opener.

Mauro Icardi has got off to a prolific start since making the permanent switch from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer; he’s registered five goals in four matches this term and is the club’s top ‘scorer.

Meanwhile, an unlikely name has found the net most for the Reds – Casemiro has four goals in all competitions thus far, with the forwards perhaps not as sharp as fans hoped they would be.
