Mount and Varane return: Predicted Manchester United line-up to face Burnley at Turf Moor

Our predicted Manchester United line-up for Saturday’s trip to Turf Moor to face Burnley. Kick-off is at 8pm.

Erik ten Hag will have grilled his squad on the importance of returning to winning ways with a convincing win after three straight defeats (all competitions). Currently, the Red Devils sit 13th-placed in the Premier League table.

The manager provided brief updates on potential returning players in his pre-match press conference, which was held before the side’s training session this afternoon. Harry Maguire, who missed the Champions League opener vs. Bayern Munich, is expected to return from his unspecified injury.

Tomorrow’s game will likely come too soon for Sofyan Amrabat and Kobbie Mainoo; the midfield duo have been training solely at Carrington this week but as far as we’re aware, they’re yet to train alongside their teammates.

Raphael Varane and Mason Mount could both be deemed fit enough to make the trip though. The pair were involved in the team’s sessions this week leading up to the clash, and ESPN reported that the Clarets game could be their first back in action after their respective layoffs.

Predicted starting line-up

Onana

Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Reguilon

After Wednesday’s showing, I don’t doubt that Varane will be thrown straight back into the mix if he’s fit.

Casemiro, Mount

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen were diabolical against Bayern midweek and whilst the opposition were significantly better than Burnley, it just cemented that those two shouldn’t partner each other again – no matter the opponents.

Pellistri, Fernandes (C), Rashford

Facundo Pellistri will only start gaining confidence with the more game time he’s granted and it makes more sense to deploy a natural winger than to stick Mount or Bruno Fernandes out of position on the right.

Hojlund

Would have two goals in two games if it wasn’t for some shady VAR calls, but he’s now off the mark and it’ll have only made him hungrier to add to his tally. An exceptionally bright spark through this difficult patch for the side. A lot of fans have high hopes for the young striker.
