Vincent Kompany previews Manchester United clash as pressure mounts on Erik ten Hag

Manchester United will make the trip to Turf Moor this Saturday in a bid to pick up form and morale following three consecutive defeats.

The Red Devils sit 13th-placed in the Premier League table and are fresh off of their return to Champions League action, which resulted in a 4-3 loss to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.

They’re away from Old Trafford again this weekend too, and if there’s one thing about United as of late, it’s that they can buckle under the atmosphere outside of their home comforts.

Three points have to be the minimum when Erik ten Hag’s side take on the newly-promoted Clarets, who have just one point on the board after their first four games.

Former Manchester City captain Kompany will also be keen to add to United’s woes and adamant on dampening the Reds’ spirit at an already torrid time.

The Belgian coach was quizzed on his upcoming opponents today and how Ten Hag has ‘dealt with the issues’ at United so far. Kompany replied (via Shamoon Hafez): “You always need time to adapt and improve – not just for Erik ten Hag but all of us. One thing this manager has demonstrated is that he is extremely capable. There is no doubting that.”

On whether or not it was a ‘good time’ to play the M16 outfit, he continued: “It depends how you look at it. My concern is with what we have to do. I have to prepare my team to face the best possible Man Utd team, with momentum, ambition, all their problems behind them and at their best.”

“I have been at a big club when you lose a couple and the pressure can mount,” he added. “Our focus is on the pitch.”
