Bayern Munich potentially without four regulars vs Manchester United

Bayern Munich face problems of their own ahead of Wednesday night’s Champions League group stage opener against Manchester United. Up to four of their key players could be on the missing list.

The Bundesliga champions won’t have German coach Thomas Tuchel on the touchlines as he will be serving a one-match ban. He is allowed to enter the dressing room before the match, at half-time and afterwards – but he will be in the stands for the game itself.

On top of that, Bayern Munich could be without four regulars at the Allianz Arena. They include Manuel Neuer, Raphael Guerreiro, Kimmich and Kingsley Coman.

Manuel Neuer

At the end of 2022, Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer broke his leg in a skiing accident just one week after Germany were eliminated out of the World Cup.

Sven Ulreich is expected to start for Tuchel’s side.

Raphael Guerreiro

The latest player to switch from Borussia Dortmund to Bayern Munich in the summer has yet to make his debut for his new side, and it won’t come against United on Wednesday night. The Portuguese left-back  has a calf problem and should return to action shortly.

Bayern haven’t necessarily missed their new signing either because they’ve got Alphonso Davis to play at left-back. The former Real Madrid defender has a wealth of experience in Europe’s most prestigious competition.

Joshua Kimmich

The Germany international could only play 60 minutes in Bayern’s top of the league clash against Bayer Leverkusen due to a tension problem. He’s touch and go for this one and is expected to take a late fitness test.

Kingsley Coman

A key absentee for Bayern Munich over the weekend. The French winger will be a loss for the Germans if he doesn’t recover from his muscular injury.

How are Bayern likely to set up against United?

Ulreich; Mazraoui, Upamecano, Min-Jae, Davies; Kimmich, Goretzka; Sane, Musiala, Gnabry; Kane.
