Birmingham City sign Manchester United’s Ivana Fuso for club record fee

Ivana Fuso has joined Birmingham City in a transfer from Manchester United on deadline day for a club record fee.

The 22-year-old signs a two-year contract, which includes an option for a further 12-months.

Fuso spent last season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen and it is believed that United manager Marc Skinner never had her as part of his plans for the WSL season ahead. She scored one goal in 12 games on loan in Germany last season.

The Brazil international knows she needs regular game time to help her develop and she could now earn a starting role at Birmingham City.

Following her transfer to St Andrews, Ivana said (via BBC Sport): “I’m really excited and I can’t wait to get started. I like the project with this club, I think they have big aims and they want to achieve big things.

“I want to challenge myself and I believe in this project. I believe also in what this team can do. I needed a new challenge and a fresh start.”

Fuso is one of nine new signings at Birmingham City this summer and it remains to be seen if they will make more before the deadline.

United are looking to make up to four signings on deadline day, so it is set to be a busy one for Skinner.

WSL reporter Rich Laverty claims United are exploring a fourth deal on top of Phallon Tullis-Joyce, Irene Guerrero and Gabby George.

It is believed talks are ongoing with Lyon over a loan deal for Malard.
