Manchester United want Mary Earps to stay despite Arsenal interest

Manchester United are determined to keep Mary Earps and have told the goalkeeper she is not for sale – beyond Thursday’s Women’s Super League transfer deadline.

According to The Telegraph, Manchester United held discussions over Earps’ future at the weekend and aren’t willing to sell.

An offer from Arsenal for the England No 1 has already been rejected this summer, but with a year left on Earps’ contract, United won’t want to face a similar situation as Alessia Russo.

The report also states that United hope to agree a new contract for Earps before her current deal expires in June, but there is more work needed on that front for the keeper to commit her long-term future to the club.

It is a tad worrying — from the club’s perspective at least — that contract talks with Earps have taking place, on and off, for around a year. Hopefully there is news of a resolution soon.
