Manchester United earmark Premier League midfielder as potential January signing – he’s open to the move

Manchester United are seemingly making plans for the January transfer window after a hectic summer of incomings and outgoings.

The Red Devils bolstered their midfield with two new additions in the form of Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat, but Erik ten Hag still isn’t satisfied for the season ahead.

As per The Athletic, the Dutch manager had mulled over a move for Fulham’s Joao Palhinha before ultimately opting to pursue Amrabat solely. The Portugal international would’ve also been keen on a move to Old Trafford, should the side have come knocking.

Palhinha, against all odds, remains a Fulham player this season; he had travelled to Germany to complete a switch to European giants Bayern Munich and had even gone as far as completing his medical and media duties – which included pictures of him holding the club’s jersey – before the transfer collapsed in the 11th hour.

United retain interest in Palhinha

Now, the 28-year-old is still an option on United’s shortlist for when the window opens again. Whether or not Bayern will reignite their interest remains to be seen, but the Reds could use Scott McTominay, who was targeted by Fulham in recent weeks, to their advantage in a proposal.
