Ben Foster slams Jadon Sancho for petulant outburst aimed at Erik ten Hag

Jadon Sancho ‘wouldn’t see the light of day’ had he issued a social media response to former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, according to former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster.

The 23-year-old hit out at United boss Erik ten Hag following the manager’s criticism of his performances in training, which is something we believe a coach is entitled to do…

However, Ten Hag was asked on Sunday why he left Sancho out of his squad for the 3-1 defeat away at Arsenal. He went on to explain that the English winger was not reaching the required standards in training.

It was hardly an explosive reaction but Sancho, for one reason or another, became defensive and issued a statement that I refuse to believe got the go-ahead by a professional advisor.

Sancho posted: “I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week.

“I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time, which isn’t fair!”

Unsurprisingly, Sancho’s little outburst has not gone down well online. He doesn’t reach the required standards in matches, so nobody thinks Ten Hag is lying when he says the same about the player in training.

It also shows a total lack of respect for the manager, which is not something I think should be tolerated, like it wasn’t when Cristiano Ronaldo ran off to Piers Morgan.

Former United goalkeeper turned YouTuber, Ben Foster, has slammed Sancho for his public response.

“It is absolutely crazy,” Foster told The United Stand. “If Alex Ferguson is manager and Jadon Sancho did this, he would never see the light of day for Manchester United.

“He would never play for this club, he wouldn’t be allowed near the changing ground, you are done. It is petulant, emotive, reactional [sic], and disrespectful.

“It just becomes a massive storm and now everyone wants to know what has happened – has Ten Hag lost the dressing room? What were the training sessions really like?

“Sancho says it is nothing to do with training, fantastic, you should be applying yourself and putting the work in.

“That is the minimum. I don’t blame Ten Hag one little bit, as long as that is the truth.”

Foster, who recently announced his retirement from football, believes Sancho could pay the price for his behaviour down the line.

He added: “This is a massive problem for Jadon Sancho moving forward.

“Other clubs see it and they wouldn’t want someone who behaves like this either.”

The final point from Foster is an interesting one because Sancho had similar disciplinary issues at Borussia Dortmund. There is certainly a pattern that other clubs will be able to identify.
