Roberto De Zerbi will be sweating on the fitness of Evan Ferguson ahead of Brighton and Hove Albion’s trip to Old Trafford on September 16.
The highly-rated forward has been ruled out of the Republic of Ireland’s forthcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against France and the Netherlands after sustaining an injury against Newcastle United at the weekend, which saw him replaced in the 81st minute.

It came after a scintillating performance in which he netted his first-ever Premier League hat-trick to see off the Magpies in emphatic fashion at the Amex.
Ferguson will be eyeing Old Trafford trip
Ferguson, 18, has received plaudits across the board since breaking into senior football and has quickly become one of the most sought-after talents across Europe. Other clubs will have to wait a while to try and secure his signature, though, as he penned a five-year contract extension with the Seagulls in April.
Brighton did a league double over United last term – a situation that Erik ten Hag will be adamant about avoiding this time around. Ferguson, who is a self-proclaimed Red, will be keen to reach full fitness for the away day at the Theatre of Dreams.
