Alvaro Fernandez joins Granada on season-long loan

Alvaro Fernandez has completed his loan move from Manchester United to Spanish club Granada on deadline day.

The 20-year-old left-back spent last season on loan at Championship club Preston North End and is het to make a his senior debut for United. Now he will spent the season at Granada in his native Spain, as per BBC Sport.

Many fans felt Fernandez deserved an opportunity in the first-team after the injuries suffered by Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, however, the writing was on the wall for the young Spaniard when Diogo Dalot started at left-back against Nottingham Forest.

Fernandez knew at this point that he was being overlooked for a right-back being asked to play on the opposite flank. It didn’t bode well at a time he needs to gain first-team experience.

Then, to make matters worse for Fernandez, United launched a pursuit to sign a new left-back. After considering a swoop for Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella, United signed Tottenham Hotspur left-back Sergio Regulion on loan.

Hours later, Fernandez completed his loan move to Granada.

We would like to wish Fernandez the best of luck and hopefully, with a bit of trust from the manager, he can become a regular at Granada. Just like he did last season at Preston.
