Scott McTominay set to remain at Manchester United despite interest

Scott McTominay is not expected to leave Manchester United on deadline day.

That update come from The Athletic and it means United are pushing back from the reported interest in Scott McTominay shown by Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and Fulham.

It is understood that United received approaches from several clubs during the transfer window, including a £30m bid from West Ham.

A deadline move had not been ruled out until now.

The report claims Bayern had opened talks, with head coach Thomas Tuchel known as a major admirer of the Scotland international. Bayern went for Joao Palhinha from Fulham instead.

Then it was a matter of Fulham, Inter Milan or staying put at Old Trafford. It is understood that he will remain at the club as Erik ten Hag is conscious of his midfield balance and sees McTominay as a providing a unique profile.

The 26-year-old won’t be expecting to start many games throughout the seasons, but we never know what could happen on the injury front.

Laurie Whitwell also claims that Donny van de Beek remains in talks over a move to Turkish side Galatasaray.

The Istanbul side saw a £1 million loan bid rejected by United, and it’s worth remembering that the Turkish transfer window is open until September 15.
