Relief for Manchester United fans as young starlet opts to stay at club rather than leave on loan

Facundo Pellistri will be staying with Manchester United this season rather than leaving on loan, as per The Athletic.

The 21-year-old had received plenty of interest from clubs across England and Europe – over a dozen approached the Red Devils regarding a potential deal or loan, including fellow FC Twente and fellow Premier League outfit Sheffield United.

However, after holding talks with the manager, Pellistri will now be staying at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag has informed the youngster that he wants him to continue developing with the club, and game time will come as the hectic fixture schedule approaches. Similar talks were held with Hannibal Mejbri, who has also opted against a loan departure.

So far this season, Pellistri has featured in two of the side’s three games; a 13-minute cameo against Wolverhampton Wanderers, and a five-minute cameo against Tottenham Hotspur.

There have already been discussions between the player and the club regarding a new and improved contract, with his current one set to expire in two years.

Fans anticipate big things from the Uruguayan due to the talents he has already displayed in his short time on the pitch. Pellistri is not afraid to take on his man or use his devastating pace to create an attack, and similar to Alejandro Garnacho, he has supporters on their feet as soon as he picks up the ball on the wing.
