Hannibal Mejbri is leaning towards staying with Manchester United this season and fighting for a place in the squad, as per The Mirror.
The Tunisian international has garnered interest from clubs in the Premier League and across Europe, including Everton, Sevilla and Anderlecht.
It comes after a season in which Hannibal made his mark in senior football with an impressive loan spell at Championship outfit Birmingham City, before returning to Carrington for the Reds’ pre-season tour.
Despite the offers, the 20-year-old is reportedly opting towards staying with United and proving his abilities to Erik ten Hag, who is said to be an admirer of the young talent. The two have held talks and the manager has made it clear that Hannibal can continue his development in the first-team, as well as ‘make an impact’ on the squad.
United’s academy graduates
Ten Hag has already promoted young prospects Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo into the senior setup, with the latter poised for a highly-anticipated breakthrough season when he returns from injury.
In turn though, United have been ruthless when it comes to shifting academy graduates; Zidane Iqbal, Charlie Savage, Di’Shon Bernard and Ethan Laird are among the latest names to have been released or sold.
It certainly sets a precedent to youngsters that Ten Hag’s level and expectations are extremely high, so if you want to make it, you have to work for it.
