Romano: Manchester United expect clubs to approach midfielder in coming days, they’re keen to offload

Fabrizio Romano has shared his understanding of Donny van de Beek’s situation at Manchester United.

The Dutchman has been expected to leave Old Trafford all summer but with just over a week of the transfer window remaining, he remains a United player.

Talks have been ongoing with Real Sociedad, however, the La Liga outfit can only take Van de Beek on a loan basis. This doesn’t overly benefit United, who are desperate to recuperate funds on outgoings to try and acquire another midfielder in his place.

As per Romano’s Daily Briefing, Van de Beek’s future remains uncertain but sources believe that other clubs could enter the fold for his signature before deadline day.

He said: “As for Donny van de Beek, the Dutch midfielder remains on Real Sociedad’s list but they can only proceed with a loan deal, which is why there’s still no agreement regarding the player’s future. Sources feel other clubs could still enter the race next week for Donny as Man United try to move him on.“

United yet to bid for Amrabat

The lack of action surrounding Van de Beek may have impacted United’s pursuit of Sofyan Amrabat, and with Mason Mount sidelined for the foreseeable weeks, adding another reliable option in the middle of the park is crucial for Erik ten Hag.
