Casemiro missed a sitter in the first-half, but the Brazilian didn’t waste his chance at the second time of asking to score the equaliser in Saturday’s 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest.
For the red card that saw Forest reduced to 10 men at Old Trafford, it was Casemiro’s pass that turned their defence inside out.
Forest skipper Joe Worrall was left with no other choice but to bring down Bruno Fernandes because he was getting to the ball before their newly signed goalkeeper Matt Turner.
Overall, it was a good performance from Casemiro. It comes after two poor displays against Wolves and Tottenham, which I noticed had a few fans feeling worries about whether he was showing signs of aging in a demanding league.
Late in stoppage time we got to see exactly what Casemiro is about as he stopped Forest’s transition on the counter-attack with a sliding tackle that roused Old Trafford.

There is a genuine feeling that too much is being asked of Casemiro in United’s midfield – and he struggled on one occasion when Anthony Elanga skipped past him down the flank.
Maybe a signing like Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina will help take the workload from Casemiro?
United have until Friday’s deadline to make more signings.
