Confirmed Manchester United XI vs Nottingham Forest: Martial starts

Manchester United are hoping to return to winning ways when they take on Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford in their second home match of the new season.

Erik ten Hag’s Reds were fortunate to beat Wolves on the opening day and they continued to underperform when they suffered defeat against Tottenham last weekend.

However, our record against Forest reads well with United winning their last 10 games against them with an aggregate scoreline of 36-3.

In terms of injury news, Luke Shaw and Mason Mount were ruled out during the week and Ramus Hojlund will need to wait for his debut.

It comes as no surprise that Andre Onana starts between the posts. In front of him will be Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez and Diogo Dalot.

Casemiro keeps his place in midfield, but he will be partnered by Christian Eriksen. It will look similar to what we seen last season, with Bruno Fernandes pushed further forward.

In attack, Antony starts on the right despite calls from some fans to give Facundo Pellistri more game time. Anthony Martial leads the line and Marcus Rashford gets back to his preferred role on the left flank.

Manchester United XI vs Tottenham: Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martinez, Dalot; Casemiro, Eriksen, Fernandes; Antony, Martial, Rashford.

Subs: Henderson, Fernandez, Lindelof, Maguire, Gore, McTominay, Garnacho, Pellistri, Sancho.

  1. Early goal needed, Reds, to settle nerves. Then Phil Yerbootz. I’m backing Martial, any time scorer.
Nurse: time for your medication, David.
