Fiorentina wait on formal offer for Manchester United linked Sofyan Amrabat

Fiorentina have been expecting Sofyan Amrabat to move on this summer, but they have yet to recieve a formal offer for the midfielder.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for Amrabat, although a number of reports suggest we could face competition from Liverpool for his signature.

The 27-year-old has one year left on his contract at the Florence-based club, which means they will need to accept a cut-price offer rather than risk losing him for free next year.

Injuries are causing panic for United fans with duo Mason Mount and Luke Shaw ruled out for the coming weeks.

Furthermore, Amrabat appears to be edging closer to a Fiorentina exit after being left out of their squad to face Rapid Vienna in the Europa League Conference play-offs.

Now in a fresh update, Fiorentina chief executive Giuseppe Barone says the Italian club have still not received a formal bid for the Morocco international.

“Sofyan’s not working with the squad — but we have still not received any bid for Amrabat this summer,” Barone told Sky, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News. “If there are players who are unhappy here, we can start considering bids for them of course.”

This almost confirms that Amrabat is unhappy at Fiorentina, which means he is waiting for his new club to make a move.

It feels like United have kept the Moroccan on the long finger all summer.

Barone told Labaro Viola last week that Fiorentina are ready for exits: “We are always ready for other entries and exits. If there’s someone who isn’t happy, we can satisfy him between now and the end of the transfer window.”

United go into the game this weekend with an injury to new signing Mason Mount.

Erik ten Hag is expected to bring in Christian Eriksen to replace the England international, but the Dane won’t be a suitable option for next week’s trip to Arsenal.
