Manchester United have identified one backup goalkeeper option in the form of Fenerbache’s Altay Bayindir.

According to David Ornstein via The Athletic, the Red Devils have recently held a pre-medical for the 25-year-old in a bid to understand the severity of his current back problem before they decide to table a bid.

Should the checks be successful, United could then take the next steps in their pursuit of Bayindir and negotiate a deal with his current club. A fee is expected to be around €5 million.

Bayindir would provide backup to Andre Onana and Tom Heaton, though the latter faces a spell on the sidelines with a calf injury.

Dean Henderson expected to leave

This does, however, depend on Dean Henderson’s potential exit. He has been long-linked with a permanent move to Nottingham Forest but their recent acquisition of USMNT international Matt Turner all but ended their interest in the Carrington graduate.

Henderson, 26, is now heavily linked with Crystal Palace, who are seeking a replacement for Vicente Guaita.
