Romano: Crystal Palace leapfrog Premier League club in talks to land Manchester United star

Dean Henderson is expected to leave Manchester United before the transfer window closes one way or another.

Nottingham Forest had led the race for the wantaway goalkeeper since his loan spell with the club ended following the conclusion of the 2022/2023 campaign, with Steve Cooper keen to bring him back to the City Ground on a permanent basis.

However, one stalling factor in Forest’s pursuit of Henderson was that the injury he sustained in January, which sidelined him for the remainder of the campaign, meant that he was unable to complete a transfer until he was fully recovered. After growing tired of waiting, the Midlands outfit acquired USMNT No.1 Matt Turner from Arsenal.

Speculation then suggested that the 26-year-old was in line for another season of playing second fiddle at Old Trafford but now, Crystal Palace have entered the mix and currently look the most likely destination for Henderson, having leapfrogged Forest in their pursuit.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed the Eagles’ interest in the England international and added that he is expected to leave United before the September deadline.
