Raphael Varane is being targeted by Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ittihad and has reportedly started negotiations over a potential move.
That’s according to a report from @nawaf__oga on Twitter, who adds that the Frenchman has given ‘positive indications’ in talks with the Saudi Arabian club.
It comes days after speculation initially began over Varane’s links to the Middle East, with Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante given roles in trying to persuade their former international teammate to make the switch from the Premier League. It was also claimed that he had no desire of leaving Europe this year, but may consider it next summer.
Stretty News’ verdict
Ultimately, it seems highly unlikely that Varane would leave Manchester United so soon. He is a mainstay in the starting line-up when fit and is playing a crucial role in the resurgence happening at Old Trafford.
The 30-year-old will also return to the Champions League this season – a competition that he has won four times already – and he’ll be keen to add more silverware to his collection whilst representing the Red Devils.
